Hi there
This term we are going to be making a toy each so that we get an understanding about how complicated it is to make a good and stable toy.
Hopefully it will work with the information I have gathered.

Toys for England and Toys for Africa

There were enough toys to last a lifetime.

On Tuesday the senior school went to motat and learnt about toys that were old and new. Some had moving parts and others were simple and mind blowing. We were shown how to use the toys and how they were similar to the old versions e.g spinning tops and beyblades.

The spinning top has no plastic it was all wood and the beyblades were plastic and metal. The old er the toys are the less plastic there is on the toy. The newer they are the more plastic and metal there is on it. There is less plastic on the older ones because it was more expensive to use plastic and it was easier to use wood and fabric.

After that we got to play with the toys for a while. Then we went outside and explored the rest of motat. We thought that we were ripped of because things were not working at the time. But we really enjoyed playing with the toys and learning about them.

Everyone was excited to go to the da vinci expedition. I learnt quite a lot at the expedition about how toys move with different parts. He was a very smart man and even invented the bike and the first sort of car. He also designed the catapult and the parachute. He drew some of the things we saw and did not actually make them but the method was there. He was a mechanic, an artist and an inventor.

Overall I think that I learnt enough to make a toy later in the year. Hopefully with some help from my friends, my toy will be a success and the toy will not fail on me.
This recount has been edited by me alone and not checked by my teacher. I am learning to work independently.

  1. A great recount of your trip to MOTAT Charlotte. I like how you focused on only a few of the things you saw or did, and not everything. It is interesting to read. Remember to use capital letters for the names of places or people. Go and read a couple of other people's blogs to see if they make sense.
